Preaching to the Choir

You have heard the saying:  “You are preaching to the Choir”

I submit to you today, sometimes the choir needs to be preached to.

If you are in the choir, you are a worship leader.  You are a leader in the church.

Rise up, leader.

There is much work to be done in the Kingdom of God. Not the comfortable VBS work (although extremely important), but the uncomfortable work. The work that requires you to walk out on the limb of faith. The work that requires sacrificial giving.

Whether you acknowledge this or not, you are a missionary.  All Born Again Followers of Christ are commanded to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world.

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.   Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” [Matthew 28: 16-20]

If you are not going, you should be supporting those who go.  Or you should be supporting the work that is going on in the places far away.

This “Great Commission” is the least followed instruction of Jesus Christ.  This is a command, not a call.

Our long term missionaries need our support.

Rise up, Church.  Hear the preaching.

devastating Truth

“Good guys go to hell.”

“If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are going to hell.“

We have heard that this Truth was proclaimed at the 2015 National Prayer Breakfast this week in Washington D.C.

This is radical Truth that even many Christians have a hard time believing.

It is a subject matter that will divide a conversation in a heartbeat.

Even people who know this Truth will shy away from proclaiming it as Truth.

It is too controversial.

Why is this considered radical truth?

[Because it is so hard for our human brains to understand.]

Because this is not human truth.  This is God Truth.

It goes against common sense.

Because if it is indeed true, it is devastating.

It is a spiritual Truth that originates with the One who created the world.

His ways are not our ways.

It is impossible to understand His ways, unless He allows us to understand.

I remember when the things of God were a mystery; my brain couldn’t entertain Truth.

Truth was what I thought it was.

Truth was what made sense to me.

Truth was only what I could wrap my brain around.

The teachings of “man” through the ages had contributed to my definition of Truth.

“Truth” passed down, from generation to generation.

“Truth”, because Oprah spoke the words. {spoken with great respect for Oprah as a humanitarian}

Only God (Spirit) can enable us to understand spiritual truths.

The Lord must draw us into Truth before we can know Truth.

My love for (you!) compels me to speak Truth.

Why would a loving God send good people to hell?

God doesn’t send people to hell. People choose hell, when they do not choose God.

All throughout Scripture is the confirmation of the horrible reality of the unending punishment in hell.

I chose this song for you today. I like choosing songs for you! I spend hours choosing just the right song.

It is chock full of Truth.

Escape the Lie

….a review of Escape the Lie,  Journey to Freedom from the Orphan Heart.

My review (if you will) of the book, by giving you 5 sentences from the book.

Author: Walker Moore with Marti Pieper

Copyright:  2014

Theme of the Book:  Satan’s deceptive tactics block most Christians from the lives God intended.  We preach the gospel, but our lives proclaim destruction.

My one comment:  If you are a Follower of Christ, this book can help you to understand the frustration in yourself and others.  If you are not a Christian, this book can also speak volumes into your life.  Either way, this book can help the pieces of the puzzle to fit together.  I highly recommend.

1.  When you fail to receive from your father the things you desire, you decide to take his place.

2.  If you fail to identify the voices in your head or understand their true source, you set yourself up for trouble.

3.  God uses the vehicle of suffering to silence other voices and allow us to hear from him.

4.  We have to make sure our eyes are careful because our bodies haven’t yet been made holy.

5.  If Satan’s #1 attack on Jesus was at the point of identity, how do you think he attacks us?

your fingerprints

I must be a stellar citizen or a criminal, because I had my fingerprints recorded twice in TWO days.

Yesterday I was renewing my driver’s license and had the routine finger imprints done at the counter.

Today I had my fingerprints taken, for a special license that I am applying for.

Today though, was a thorough imaging of each finger tip.  And the monitor (like a computer screen) was visible during the entire process.  I could see all of the lines and ridges and markings.

For a moment my brain paused.

I was seeing my unique markings.  No one on the planet has my markings.

No two fingerprints have ever been found identical in many billions of human and automated computer comparisons.

As if I needed any proof that I have been uniquely created, I saw the evidence on the monitor today.

The markings were beautiful.  They were so interesting.  They were MINE !

The God who handcrafted us did not use a cookie-cutter.  We are all different.  There is no on else created that is just like you!  No one.

Think upon the Truth whenever you start to compare yourself with all the others that also carry unique fingerprints.

He handcrafted you.

Everything sifts through the Lord’s Hands.

He has a unique plan for you to Glorify His Holy Name.

Be excited about who you are and how you are, because the One who made you desires to USE you!

Genuine Faith

I am reminded this evening of the power of the enemy.

The enemy that is not more powerful than God.

I am reminded of faith.

Real faith.

Faith that believes and follows, even when we do not want to follow.

Faith that takes over when we are not “happy”.

Faith that takes over when everything is not okay.

Faith that is following after Truth.

Faith that says “ I do not understand” but I will sit, crawl or lie down upon on the Truth, until I am able to stand.

It is easy to “have faith” when everything is going okay.

Super easy to “have faith” when everything is going really well.

But, what about when life gets really hard?

When the death occurs.

When the emotional pain is off the charts.

When the marriage is not bringing you any happiness.

When….. (fill in the blank).

Real faith will continue to breath.

It will continue to move.

Real faith can cry. Real faith can question.

Faith will swallow pride. [tastes horrible; will make you sick]

Real faith will continue after the Truth that we find in the Scriptures.

I am praying tonight for all who will ever put their eyes on this Blog entry.

I pray that you will be encouraged to live out genuine faith.

Encouraged by the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Do not lean on your own understanding of your life and the surrounding circumstances.

We are going to rub shoulders with the evil and brokenness of this world.

Keep breathing genuine faith, so we can testify to the Truth.

Living out genuine faith is not easy.

It is not a warm and delicious cinnamon bun on a Sunday morning.

If your faith is founded upon the Truths of Scripture, you are equipped.

I leave you tonight with a song.

…willing to die

Christians are being killed because they are Christians.

Christians in Syria and Iraq and other countries around the world.

They have a choice and they are choosing Christ.

And as they are choosing Christ, they are fairly certain that it means

death or some other form of extreme persecution.

Do I believe the words of Isaiah 41:10?

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Does this apply to car accidents and cancer?

Or does it also apply to those who are facing imminent death because

they are Christians?

I am so very proud of them.

I am encouraged by their faith.

I wish I could be right there with them and look into their beautiful eyes and speak this encouragement into their lives.

I wish I could hug them and kiss them on their forehead.

I am reminded this evening of the Truth.

There is a God.

He is all-powerful.

He can stop anything that He desires to stop.

His ways are not our ways.

He has prepared a place in Heaven for those who belong to Him.

He has told us that we (his followers) will be persecuted.

This persecution has been happening for a long, long time, but it does appear to be on the increase.

May we be reminded that He has never promised that we would be comfortable here on earth.

I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ; those who are suffering for His Name.

And if I am to be honest with you, most of the time I am not praying for their lives here on Earth to be protected.

To be a Christian and to be killed is not the most horrible thing.

To be [not a Christian] and to die is the most horrible thing.

So, I pray that my persecuted brothers and sisters have strength to endure what is before them. I pray that the Lord uses their individual lives to bring many to faith in Him.

The real tragedy is that souls are condemned and unless they are saved by grace, they will spend eternity separated from the God who created them.

Listen as Phil Wickham sings about the story that makes dead men live…

Why running?

I thought you might like to know why I have titled this Blog “Running in the Path”, when we hear so much about our “walk with the Lord”.

I did not come to know the Lord until I was 28 years old.

So, for 28 years I stumbled around in this world. Unsaved, unredeemed and already condemned

Already condemned?  Yes.

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.  {John 3:18]

Just 2 verses away from the infamous John 3:16.

Condemned for 28 years = a lot of wasted years!

I am thankful for this Truth:  I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you. [Joel 2:25]

Joel had used the locust invasion as an illustration of God’s judgment. In His promise to “restore” the years lost to the locust, God is pledging to restore His repentant people to a place of blessing after judgment.

Although I feel that I had wasted 28 years, I know that the Lord has now redeemed me and is absolutely using my experiences in those “wasted” years for His Glory.

I should be completely okay now with walking with the Lord.  But, I do not want to walk, I want to run!

No idleness.

No “status quo”.

Nothing to do with “just going to church”.

No fluff.

No milk; All meat.

I would love for you to listen to this song.  It’s about the run and the fight.

And on a separate note:  I am considering attending a language training school in Central America next year.  I know that my inability to speak fluently in Spanish does not limit the Holy Spirit, but I personally do not like always having to have a translator in order to fully converse about my God.   So, this is for me.  And I pray that in this, my Lord will be glorified.
